Project summary
Nominated for the Lebanese Architect Award 2017. In a village Lebanon that was left abandoned by rural migration, the project groups a set of four houses linked to the old fabric of the village. It includes the house that poet Rawad Tarabay had depicted in his poem “Baitna Bchatine”. Around themes of memory and dreaming, the restoration project loosely bases itself on historical truths, yet seeks to reuse traditional materials and techniques: earth, limestone, and wood. It seeks to become a contemporary exploration in sustainable construction.
