In association with Seura Architectes. The Tripoli Fairground can be interpreted as a modeled esplanade containing an arrangement of simple volumes inscribed in an expansive ellipse. This complex was designed for a program that would meet the scale of a mega-city. While today it is set to accommodate within its exceptional shapes the means of daily life. The Knowledge and Innovation Center could meet the challenge of gathering in a recognizable place a community of work and dwellings. For this purpose, we designed “The Loop of Innovation”, a 3-stories high and 80-meter-diameter wide ring, up to which an open walkway leads, framed by the two existing and rehabilitated buildings. With the magnitude and geometry of the ring, the insertion of housing units with views to the city, mountains and the sea, and the inclusion of three cubic volumes in its central clearing, the complex allows for an active yet peaceful presence, serene by day and by night.
