Project summary

Awarded 1st prize. The idea behind this project’s initiation was to restore the qualities of the landscape of the site: The topography smoothly flowing towards the sea and the horizon, the watercourse running along the northern edge of the site, and the irrigation channels encapsulating it from east and south. Highlighting these elements of the landscape reclaims the essential character of the site, which makes for an advantage in staging of the project. The ground level is broken up to follow the topography of the site, thus reconstructing the profile of the valley. The terraces are organized into three typological entities: the public square, the pedestrian street, and the playgrounds. The civic spaces of the project occur above and below the square, which borders the embankment of a small valley, upstream from the site. The educational complex occupies the lower part on the western side of the site. These two areas are separated by a pedestrian street that crosses the site along the North-South axis and distributes the elements of the program.
