Residential Project of The Year, Middle East Architects Awards 2018. The 60,000 square meter site used to be an abandoned quarry, organized around a flat basin from which it could be accessed. The house was the only construction possible. It sits at the border of the terrain, setting a stage for the site’s incredible natural beauty. At the lower ground and reception level, accessible directly from the exterior, the house opens onto the view of the valley to the north. It is embedded into the site and receives southern light from a double height vertical lobby which houses the staircase and a fireplace. On the upper ground level, a back terrace runs parallel between the house and the site’s natural rock formations, allowing the bedrooms to open up and project onto the landscape. |
